The river otter, (Lutra canadensis), had disappeared from Nebraska around 1904, but thanks to proceeds from the Wildlife Conservation Fund, the river otter was reintroduced into Nebraska river systems in 1986 and 1991.  Today the river otter is still listed as a threatened species in Nebraska, but otter telemetry work is evaluating the population to see if delisting is possible.

The Wildlife Conservation Fund is a fundamental source of funding available to support Nebraska wildlife.   By supporting the Nebraska wildlife Conservation Fund with your tax-deductible gift, you are taking an active part in protecting Nebraska's wide diversity of nongame wildlife, including threatened species, like the river otter and the wild places they need to survive.

With your donation of $25 or more, you can receive a Swift Fox t-shirt as a thank you!  Click here.
